Day 47 (1/11): Artifactual Knowledge & the TOK Exhibition

 


Aims & Objectives

  • to encourage students to reflect on the central question, “How do we know that?”, and to recognize the value of asking that question
  • to encourage students to make connections between academic disciplines by exploring underlying concepts and by identifying similarities and differences in the methods of inquiry used in different areas of knowledge
  • demonstrate TOK thinking through the critical examination of knowledge questions
  • identify and explore links between knowledge questions and the world around us

Central Knowledge Question:

  • How do we use objects & artifacts to construct our understanding of the world?

  • TOK Exhibition 
    • Overview & Exemplars
    • Scavenger Hunt Activity
Upcoming:
  • CAS Day Thursday (meet in Media Center)
  • TOK Exhibition (by Tuesday)
    • Choose 3 questions that you might want to explore
    • Write 3 claims for each question that answer the question in different ways or from different perspectives.
    • Submit to Google Classroom.

Homework: EE Workshop 3: by 1/28 Begin reading for your EE.  Use the Resources on the EE Guide website to take your research BEYOND Google. Take good notes (including bibliographic information) Have at least 5 sources that you feel are valuable (You may have already read them, or be in the process of working through them). Work toward a Statement of Purpose (See above) that you are proud of. Be ready to share these also in class. Submit on Goog
